Lead Service Designer

Responsibilities

• Lead service design efforts for complex, real-world transformation programmes and services.
• Work hands-on within multidisciplinary teams, including product designers, engineers, and strategists.
• Facilitate stakeholder conversations and embed directly with client teams, often on-site.
• Use service blueprints, journey maps, and system maps to align stakeholders and drive decision-making.
• Connect user needs with business goals, operational processes, technology, and data.
• Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure services are feasible, scalable, and effectively implemented.
• Identify commercial opportunities within engagements and contribute to business growth and proposals.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading service design across complex services or large-scale transformation programmes.
• Hands-on experience contributing directly within multidisciplinary, cross-functional teams.
• Sector experience in public services, financial services, insurance, or consumer brands.
• Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills with a consultative mindset.
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments and bring structure to complex problems.
• A flexible skillset spanning service design, CX, UX, research, product, or strategy.
• Strong systems thinking capabilities.
• Experience working within agile methodologies.
• A commitment to accessibility and inclusive design principles.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to spot growth opportunities.
