About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate daily phlebotomy team activities, including scheduling, task delegation, and workflow coordination across multiple satellite locations.
  • Provide clinical leadership through onboarding, training oversight, competency verification, and remediation of staff.
  • Perform venipuncture, capillary specimen collection, and electrocardiograms (EKGs) following established protocols.
  • Conduct waived and moderate complexity laboratory testing in compliance with CLIA and safety standards.
  • Monitor laboratory supply inventory and assist with quality assurance activities, audits, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct regular site rounding to observe staff performance and reinforce best practices.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist (MA-Pbt) certification from the state of Washington.
  • Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Certificate program.
  • BLS (AHA) certification (must be obtained within 30 days of employment).
  • 5+ years of professional blood draw experience.
  • 1+ year of proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel 100% of the time to various Optum draw locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of waived laboratory testing, sample preparation, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with EKG procedures and medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Experience with laboratory information systems and electronic medical records.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment.
