Lead Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead process design work for projects, including concept design, material balances, and the preparation of PFDs and P&IDs.
• Establish client requirements and deliver comprehensive engineering design solutions from feasibility through to construction support.
• Conduct process hazard studies and design safety reviews, including HAZOP, SIL assessments, and LOPA.
• Manage technical aspects of selected projects, controlling design, specifications, costs, quality, and programmes.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline teams to ensure seamless interface between engineering disciplines.
• Mentor and develop less experienced engineers within the process engineering department.
• Support business development by generating cost and hour estimates for proposals and studies.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Extensive experience in process engineering design on capital projects.
• Proven expertise in the fine chemicals, pharmaceutical, or food industries.
• Experience in process safety systems design within high-hazard industries.
• Proficiency in process safety methodologies such as HAZOP, SIL, or Hazardous Area Assessment.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to manage client relationships and multi-discipline teams.
• Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (MIChemE) status.
• Direct operating experience within the chemical or pharmaceutical sectors.
• Experience working within a contracting organisation.
