Lead Process Engineer

About the Company

Arcturus is creating a new wire technology stack that uses carbon nanomaterials to overcome the materials limitations of metals. The company is developing a new class of carbon nanomaterial-infused metal matrix composites for high-performance conductor applications in drones, robotics, and the energy grid.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end R&D-to-pilot process flow, including feedstock handling, LPBF/DED processing, and post-processing
• Translate technical learnings into repeatable process recipes, standard work, and controlled operating procedures
• Build and run a disciplined design of experiments (DOE) cadence to improve yield and reduce cycle time
• Establish startup-appropriate quality systems, including control plans, lot tracking, and acceptance criteria
• Partner with nanomaterials and additive manufacturing leads to ensure scalability and technical soundness
• Hire and lead process engineers, technicians, and operators as the team scales

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in materials science, metallurgical, chemical, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering, or physics
• 8+ years of hands-on process engineering or advanced process development experience
• Deep experience scaling complex manufacturing processes in hardware or materials environments
• Strong understanding of process-structure-property relationships in metals or metal matrix composites
• Proficiency in DOE, statistical analysis, and structured root-cause methods
• Strong scientific and technical writing skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with LPBF, DED, laser processing, or CVD/LCVD/LACVD
• Experience with aluminum, copper, or conductor materials
• Direct experience with carbon nanomaterial-metal composites (graphene, carbon nanotubes)
• Experience in a startup or fast-paced R&D-to-manufacturing environment
