Responsibilities

  • Own web performance end-to-end, including load times, rendering performance, and runtime efficiency
  • Set technical direction by defining architecture, standards, and tooling for caching, rendering, and edge delivery
  • Optimize the critical rendering path, including SSR, hydration, code splitting, and asset delivery
  • Design and maintain caching and CDN strategies to minimize latency
  • Build performance observability using real user monitoring and Core Web Vitals tracking
  • Establish performance benchmarks and budgets across the engineering organization

Requirements

  • Deep experience in web performance engineering at significant scale (billions of page loads)
  • Expertise in rendering, caching, CDN configuration, bundle optimization, and Core Web Vitals
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Strong understanding of browser engines, V8 runtime, and the network layer
  • Experience with real user monitoring and synthetic performance testing
  • Proven technical leadership experience influencing engineering teams
  • Measurement-driven approach using profiling and instrumentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Next.js and React
  • Experience with modern SSR/SSG rendering strategies at scale
  • Familiarity with edge computing, worker runtimes, or CDN-level programmability
