Lead Operating Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the operation and maintenance of mission-critical data center infrastructure, including electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
• Monitor building infrastructure and energy management systems to ensure continuous operation of critical systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on facility equipment, including generators, UPS systems, and cooling infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems in a high-availability environment.
• Coordinate and oversee maintenance activities performed by external vendors and subcontractors.
• Respond to emergency situations such as equipment failures, alarms, or facility disruptions.
• Provide technical guidance and day-to-day support to the engineering staff.
• Maintain accurate work orders, preventative maintenance records, and operational logs using CMMS platforms.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Proven experience working in mission-critical facilities such as data centers or industrial plants.
• Hands-on expertise with electrical distribution, HVAC, chillers, generators, and UPS systems.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and scheduled overtime in a 24x365 environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical, vocational, or trade school training.
• Experience with building automation systems and CMMS platforms.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
