Lead Network Engineer

Responsibilities

• Ownership of all on-prem and cloud network infrastructure
• Monitor network performance and proactively address potential issues
• Configure and manage firewalls to protect the organization’s network
• Implement and manage switching and routing technologies including VLANs, OSPF, and BGP
• Support wireless network operations and high-performance connectivity
• Implement network redundancy plans, backup circuits, and failover systems
• Perform network troubleshooting for hardware and software issues
• Manage network security via intrusion detection systems and policy enforcement
• Collaborate with teams to integrate network resources with HVAC, security cameras, and manufacturing equipment
• Implement and maintain VPNs and remote access solutions
• Ensure network compliance with industry standards and data security regulations
• Document network configurations, changes, and procedures
• Manage network expansion, upgrades, patches, and fixes

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Network Administrator
• Strong knowledge of wireless, firewalls, switching, routing, and ISP management
• Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+
• Experience with firewall management (Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or similar)
• Proficiency in routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP
• Knowledge of switching technologies like VLANs, trunking, and Layer 2 security
• Experience with wireless networking technologies (WPA2, WPA3, 802.11 standards)
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, or PRTG
• Experience with VPNs, network segmentation, and remote access technologies
• Strong understanding of network security principles including encryption and IPS/IDS
• Excellent problem-solving and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Experience with cloud networking technologies (AWS, Azure)
• Familiarity with VoIP systems and managing network bandwidth
• Knowledge of load balancers, WAN optimization, and network redundancy strategies
