About the role
Responsibilities
- Ownership of all on-prem and cloud network infrastructure
- Monitor network performance and proactively address potential issues
- Configure and manage firewalls to protect the organization’s network
- Implement and manage switching and routing technologies including VLANs, OSPF, and BGP
- Support wireless network operations and high-performance connectivity
- Implement network redundancy plans, backup circuits, and failover systems
- Perform network troubleshooting for hardware and software issues
- Manage network security via intrusion detection systems and policy enforcement
- Collaborate with teams to integrate network resources with HVAC, security cameras, and manufacturing equipment
- Implement and maintain VPNs and remote access solutions
- Ensure network compliance with industry standards and data security regulations
- Document network configurations, changes, and procedures
- Manage network expansion, upgrades, patches, and fixes
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Network Administrator
- Strong knowledge of wireless, firewalls, switching, routing, and ISP management
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+
- Experience with firewall management (Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or similar)
- Proficiency in routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP
- Knowledge of switching technologies like VLANs, trunking, and Layer 2 security
- Experience with wireless networking technologies (WPA2, WPA3, 802.11 standards)
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, or PRTG
- Experience with VPNs, network segmentation, and remote access technologies
- Strong understanding of network security principles including encryption and IPS/IDS
- Excellent problem-solving and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Experience with cloud networking technologies (AWS, Azure)
- Familiarity with VoIP systems and managing network bandwidth
- Knowledge of load balancers, WAN optimization, and network redundancy strategies
