About the Company

Apex manufactures satellite buses at scale using a combination of software, vertical integration, and hardware designed for manufacturing. Their spacecraft enable the future of society, ranging from earth observation to communications.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design of spacecraft structural systems from concept through flight
• Drive trade studies regarding mass, stiffness, strength, and manufacturability
• Perform first-principles analysis and FEA including static, dynamic, and thermal distortion
• Develop and execute structural test plans including vibration, shock, and thermal vacuum testing
• Lead a small team through design reviews and mentor junior engineers
• Manage hardware through build, integration, and test phases

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• 5+ years of experience designing structural or mechanical systems
• 1+ years of experience leading technical teams or projects
• Experience owning hardware from concept through test or production
• Proficiency with CAD (NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks) and FEA tools (ANSYS, Nastran, or Abaqus)
• Experience designing lightweight aerospace structures or load-bearing assemblies
• Experience working with suppliers and managing external partners

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with spacecraft or aerospace structural systems
• Familiarity with environmental testing (vibe, shock, thermal vacuum)
• Hands-on experience with machining, assembly, or hardware bring-up
• Familiarity with composite design or bonded structures
• Proficiency with scripting or analysis tools like Python or MATLAB
