About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical engineering leadership for the design and delivery of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and storage tanks.
- Lead the development, review, and approval of technical specifications, design calculations, and drawings.
- Oversee the preparation of specifications for all mechanical equipment within the project scope.
- Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and HSE expectations.
- Lead technical bid evaluations and provide recommendations to support vendor selection and procurement.
- Review and approve vendor drawings, calculations, and technical data to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and quality oversight.
- Coordinate design registration submissions with applicable authorities, such as TSSA in Ontario.
- Participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and constructability evaluations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
- Registered with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
- Proven expertise in the design, fabrication, and testing of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and storage tanks.
- Proficiency with static equipment software such as COMPRESS, PV Elite, or AMETank.
- Strong working knowledge of ASME Section I, ASME Section VIII (Div 1 & 2), and API standards (650, 653, 620).
- Experience in the oil, gas, chemical, or petrochemical sectors.
- Eligibility to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with thermal sizing of heat exchangers using HTRI.
- Understanding of finite element stress analysis aligned with ASME code requirements.
- Knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada and ASCE 7.
