Lead Mechanical Engineer (Design)

Responsibilities

• Oversee the design of detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment, and mechanical systems.
• Research and develop layouts, prepare engineering drawings, and coordinate design activities with Tooling, Flight Sciences, Manufacturing, and Production.
• Utilize 3D solid modeling CAD tools to perform high-level mechanical design tasks across various aircraft platforms.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other engineering employees.
• Manage the total lifecycle of programs, including proposals, bids, planning, risk assessment, and execution.
• Ensure all designs meet program airworthiness, customer, and company requirements, including familiarity with FAA (Part 23 and 25) and military standards.
• Drive successful program execution by ensuring initiatives are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of Aircraft design experience, OR
• Graduate Degree with 7 years of Aircraft design experience, OR
• 13 years of Aircraft design experience in lieu of a degree.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret with SCI security clearance.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Outstanding communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Secret or Top-Secret security clearance.
• Experience leading large prototype programs.
• Familiarity with aircraft systems and various mission systems.
