Lead Material Handler

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor daily shipping activities to meet production and delivery schedules
• Assign work to team members and adjust labor based on workload and priority shipments
• Perform hands-on shipping tasks including picking, packing, staging, and loading
• Ensure all outbound orders meet company standards for accuracy, packaging, and documentation
• Promote a safe work environment by enforcing safety policies and conducting equipment inspections
• Provide on-the-job training and coaching to new and existing team members
• Serve as the primary point of communication between hourly staff and management

Requirements

• Prior experience in a shipping, warehouse, or distribution environment
• Demonstrated leadership ability or previous experience in a lead/training role
• Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and move materials up to 50 lbs.
• Basic computer skills including experience with ERP systems, email, or handheld scanners
• Familiarity with Lean principles or continuous improvement practices
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and prioritization skills
