Lead Machine Learning Scientist, Search

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical leader and individual contributor to build and deploy advanced ML models for search and discovery.
• Develop models involving user and product embeddings, contextual bandits, and personalized ranking algorithms.
• Build scalable, explainable, and responsible AI solutions to enhance customer trust and transparency.
• Drive the end-to-end journey from identifying business problems to delivering measurable impact in production.
• Experiment and innovate with new technical approaches to solve complex customer problems.

Requirements

• Multiple year track record of leading the development and deployment of advanced Machine Learning models.
• Proven experience shipping state-of-the-art ML models to production within a fast-moving environment.
• Fluency in Python with extensive, hands-on experience using scikit-learn.
• Proficiency in using SQL to interact with data.
• Strong product mindset with a focus on customer outcomes and data-informed decision-making.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and communicate complex ML concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on personalization, ranking, and recommendation problems for consumer applications.
• Commercial experience writing critical production code and working within microservices architectures.
• Interest in learning Go lang to support backend microservices.
