Lead Infrastructure Engineer - Email Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead complex infrastructure initiatives to develop solutions for business applications and enterprise messaging architecture.
• Design, build, deploy, and maintain secure email infrastructure, including SMTP backbone and platforms like Proofpoint and Zix.
• Shape future-state messaging architecture by driving cloud and hybrid strategies.
• Perform capacity planning, infrastructure upgrades, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.
• Provide Level 4 escalation support for complex production issues and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for high-impact outages.
• Collaborate with third-party vendors and internal security, compliance, and application teams.
• Direct daily risk and control flows to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and work standards.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in enterprise email and messaging engineering.
• Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Exchange hybrid architectures.
• Mandatory hands-on experience with Proofpoint MTAs.
• Deep understanding of SMTP, DNS, LDAP, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
• Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals including IPv4/IPv6, TCP/UDP, NAT, PAT, ACLs, and VLANs.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and usage of GraphAPI.
• Experience with platform lifecycle management (patching, upgrades, and decommissioning) in large, regulated enterprises.
• Strong incident, problem, and change management skills (ITIL-aligned).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in large-scale environments with 50,000+ users.
• Experience with Zix Gateways, Sendmail, Postfix, or openldap.
