Lead Health Information Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process medical record requests (ROI) in a timely and efficient manner
• Safeguard patient privacy and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Manage patient health records, including preparing new charts and creating digital images
• Handle administrative duties such as answering phones, managing faxes, and data entry
• Assist with patient walk-ins and coordinate pick-ups
• Act in a lead role by training, mentoring, and onboarding new staff
• Generate reports and participate in quality assurance tasks

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 1 year of Health Information Management (HIM) related experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
• Strong data entry and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to commute between locations as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of Health Information related experience
• Previous experience in a production or metric-based environment
• In-person customer service experience
• Experience with process improvement and providing feedback to stakeholders
