Lead Health Information Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process release of information (ROI) and medical record requests accurately and efficiently
• Safeguard patient privacy and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Manage patient health records and prepare new patient charts from paper or electronic sources
• Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
• Respond to internal and external requests for patient records
• Assist with training, mentoring, and onboarding new HIS staff
• Act in a lead role to answer staff questions and lead training sessions
• Generate reports for management and participate in operational strategy projects

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of Health Information Management (HIM) related experience
• Basic computer proficiency and strong data entry skills
• Ability to work in a high-volume production environment
• Professional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks with minimum supervision
• Ability to commute between locations as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of Health Information related experience
• Previous production or metric-based work experience
• In-person customer service experience
• Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers
