Lead Health Information Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process medical record requests accurately and confidentially in compliance with HIPAA
• Provide call support and assist with ROI-related inquiries
• Assist Supervisor with inventory management and queue oversight
• Serve as a subject-matter resource for ROI workflows, EMR navigation, and SOPs
• Support client and internal escalations with timely follow-up
• Assist with training, onboarding, mentoring, and coaching of new hires
• Perform data entry, faxing, scanning, and other administrative duties
• Maintain professionalism with patients, providers, and clinical staff

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Prior experience in healthcare, medical records, HIM, or Release of Information (ROI)
• Knowledge of ROI processes and EMR systems
• Strong understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality
• Proficiency with computers, email systems, and standard office equipment
• Ability to work on-site daily in Hackensack, NJ
• Willingness to travel locally on a weekly basis as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Supervisory or lead experience
• Experience leading, mentoring, or supporting a small team
