Lead Hardware Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own system performance by leading experimental optimization of temperatures, flow rates, and heat transfer
• Collaborate with algorithms and firmware teams to develop control schemes for energy and drying optimization
• Identify opportunities to improve system design for performance and reliability
• Oversee external simulations including CFD, thermal, and multiphysics models
• Determine system requirements for components like fans, condensers, heaters, and sensors
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to optimize custom hardware like mixing paddles and shredding technology
• Partner with operations and supply chain on component sourcing for production volumes
• Facilitate the transition from prototype to high-volume manufacturing

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in a systems or lead role with thermal and fluid handling focus
• Experience taking new processes from concept through to production
• Experience managing cross-functional engineering projects (electrical, mechanical, thermal, controls)
• Hands-on experience with electromechanical integration and part selection
• BS or MS in Process, Thermal, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Python proficiency for time series data analysis
• Prior startup experience
• Master's degree or higher
