Lead Hand - Building Patrol (Library)

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and train the Building Patrol team at Robarts Library
• Schedule daily activities and staff shifts to ensure sufficient coverage
• Act as a primary liaison between patrol staff and the Manager of Security, Fire, Health & Safety
• Perform standard Building Patrol duties, including maintaining a safe and secure environment
• Manage security systems, including CCTV monitoring, footage retrieval, and alarm system audits
• Administer access control by programming photo access cards and door unlock schedules
• Prepare timesheets and manage inventory for patrol supplies, first aid cabinets, and uniforms
• Ensure adherence to Library Conduct Regulations and assist in updating operational procedures

Requirements

• Completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of four years of related work experience with demonstrated leadership ability
• Valid Security Guard Licence issued by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
• Ability to maintain a clean criminal record
• Strong English communication skills (both oral and written)
• Proven ability to handle conflict, manage difficult individuals, and work with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience in a security or patrol setting
• Diploma or coursework in Police Foundations
