Lead Grounds Maintenance Worker, Housing

Responsibilities

• Assist in scheduling, directing, and overseeing seasonal landscaping, turf maintenance, and general upkeep of University housing and property
• Supervise the work of vendors, support staff, and student workers in grounds maintenance areas
• Operate complex and specialized grounds maintenance equipment to apply herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers
• Maintain inventories of supplies and equipment pertaining to landscaping and grounds development
• Coordinate the maintenance of University roads, walkways, parking lots, and loading docks, including snow removal
• Plan and execute basic landscaping designs, seasonal planting, and pruning programs
• Inspect grounds and landscaping areas to report conditions and plan daily work
• Assist in the selection and training of grounds workers and student staff

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Three years of grounds maintenance experience, including operation of specialized equipment
• One year of previous grounds leadership experience
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to obtain pesticide/fertilizer certification within the first 6 months of employment
• Ability to perform physical tasks in various weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 pounds (occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance)

• Experience working in large, complex grounds environments
