Lead Firmware - Software System Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead a firmware team in delivering power management, security, networking, and platform memory setup firmware.
• Plan, track, and deliver all firmware deliverables for embedded market segments including Networking, Storage, and Automotive.
• Design, develop, and debug firmware for internal and external systems using AMD APU/CPU.
• Collaborate with core firmware teams and Platform Firmware Organization (PFO) to meet product requirements.
• Provide custom firmware design support and low-level design documentation for tier-1 customers.
• Support existing firmware by addressing customer escalations and debugging system-related issues.
• Mentor upcoming developers and provide long-range technical strategy.

Requirements

• 15+ years of hands-on firmware development experience in emulation, simulation, and post-silicon environments (Emulation experience is mandatory).
• Expert proficiency in C language programming.
• Deep understanding of BIOS, power management, and PCIe.
• Extensive knowledge of SoC power management, including CPU/Device power states and hot-plug.
• Experience with Security Firmware, including Root of Trust, TPM/fTPM, and silicon security subsystems.
• Strong understanding of memory technologies including DDR4, DDR5, NVDIMM, and various DIMM types (UDIMM, SODIMM, RDIMM, etc.).
• Proficiency with UEFI BIOS, ACPI, and Git/Gerrit.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Knowledge of AGESA.
• Experience with Boot loader and Linux.
• Familiarity with JIRA.
