Lead Estimator

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead complete estimates and quantity/material takeoffs for self-performed civil construction scopes of work.
• Review owner plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of project requirements and construction plans.
• Conduct site investigations and walkdowns to identify unusual conditions or potential problems prior to forming a plan of operations.
• Participate in constructability reviews and collaborate with project managers, design engineers, and superintendents to ensure estimate accuracy.
• Provide leadership in the subcontractor and vendor selection process and mentor small estimating teams.
• Stay current on industry trends, including new equipment, methods, and procedures.
• Utilize "InEight Estimate" and other specialized tools to prepare cost estimates and engineering studies.

Requirements

• BS in engineering, construction, estimating, or a similar field.
• Minimum of 5+ years of related estimating experience in infrastructure (Heavy Civil, Highway, Bridge, Rail, Utilities, etc.).
• Proven experience leading estimates and providing coaching or mentoring to small teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Ability to perform site walkdowns and travel to various locations as required.
• If no degree is held, a minimum of 10+ years of combined experience in Estimating and Field Construction/Superintendent roles is required.
