About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor environmental monitor field teams, including biological monitors and field archaeologists
- Oversee environmental compliance for specific spreads of transmission lines during the construction phase
- Conduct field inspections, environmental sampling, and survey work to ensure regulatory adherence
- Prepare and conduct environmental training for construction personnel
- Coordinate closely with the Environmental Field Manager and escalate critical concerns
- Review daily reports and prepare written documentation, including photo evidence of field activities
- Act as a primary point of contact for agency officials, landowners, contractors, and clients
- Identify and oversee corrective actions for non-compliance and manage erosion/sediment control needs
- Verify the proper marking of construction limits, access roads, and resource exclusion zones
Requirements
- 10+ years of environmental inspection, monitoring, or permitting experience, specifically with linear or energy infrastructure projects
- Mandatory experience with Electric Transmission projects and BLM lands
- BS or BA degree preferred, or equivalent relevant construction experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital photography
- Working knowledge of sub-meter accuracy GPS technologies, Field Maps, and Survey123 applications
- Ability to travel extensively and work 60-72 hours per week in a physically demanding field role
- Ability to hike up to 10 hours per day on uneven or steep terrain in various weather conditions
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle in remote locations
