Lead Engineer - Transmission Planning

Responsibilities

• Lead reliability and economic driven studies including voltage, thermal, PV, transfer limit, short circuit, and stability assessments.
• Analyze and assess complex transmission systems at numerous voltage levels and document results through report writing and presentations.
• Provide technical leadership on complex projects and mentor, develop, and support the technical skills of the engineering team.
• Collaborate with internal teams and industry peers on regional activities involving NPCC and ISOs.
• Guide department engineers and act as a liaison for contractors regarding company policy, standards, and best practices.
• Innovate and integrate improvements to increase the precision and efficiency of transmission planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; advanced degrees (MSEE) or PE certification are a plus.
• 7+ years of industry-related experience in power systems.
• Strong knowledge of power system studies, including power flow, stability, and short circuit analysis.
• Proficiency in power system analytics software such as PSS/E, TARA, and ASPEN.
• Thorough understanding of regulatory and compliance standards including NERC, NPCC, ISO, and PUC.
• Ability to document and interpret engineering documentation and review/approve the work of others.
