Lead Engineer - Transmission Planning

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform highly technical power system studies, including steady-state, stability, short-circuit, transfer limit, and PV/QC analyses.
• Utilize industry-standard software tools such as PSS/E, ASPEN, and TARA to address system needs and support strategic vision.
• Take a leadership role in scoping, performing, and ensuring the quality assurance of technical studies conducted by engineering teams.
• Collaborate with management to provide strategic input for business plans and represent the company in regulatory and technical forums (ISOs, PUCs, etc.).
• Analyze complex transmission systems at various voltage levels and clearly communicate results through technical reports and presentations.
• Mentor team members and identify opportunities for process improvement and best practice documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of industry experience related to the planning or operation of transmission and distribution power systems.
• Expert-level proficiency with steady-state power system modeling and simulation software (e.g., TARA, PSS/E, PowerWorld, or PSLF).
• Strong understanding of local, state, regional, and federal regulatory standards and compliance processes.
• Proven ability to lead internal and external staff toward successful project completion.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional engineering certifications.
• Experience with dynamic stability, short circuit, PV/QV, and transfer limit analyses.
