Lead Engineer, Risk Technology

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-quality, scalable, and performant low/zero-GC JVM services and APIs
• Translate complex risk models and business requirements into well-tested technical implementations
• Collaborate with quantitative analysts and product teams to build robust solutions for financial products
• Optimize and refactor existing codebases to enhance testing, performance, and maintainability
• Champion engineering excellence by promoting code quality, best practices, and a performance-driven mindset

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional experience as a Java backend engineer
• Expert proficiency in Java with experience architecting low-latency, high-performance systems
• In-depth knowledge of testing methodologies including TDD, back testing, and stress testing
• Strong software design skills following Agile, DRY, and Clean Code principles
• Proficiency with technical tools including Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP
• Comprehensive understanding of financial products and risk models (e.g., SPAN, VaR)
• Degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Exceptional mathematical and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with event-sourced architectures and columnar storage/databases
• Experience with Chronicle Queue or Kotlin
• Proven track record of mentoring junior engineers through pairing and code reviews
