About the role

Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and govern safety strategies across Drive, Energy, ADAS, and automated driving systems
  • Lead end-to-end safety case development and translate objectives into engineering requirements
  • Partner with Functional Safety teams to align HARA, Safety Goals, and SOTIF strategies
  • Develop, document, and maintain Technical Safety Concepts and Requirements
  • Integrate SOTIF considerations into the safety case, addressing AI/ML and perception-based systems
  • Define and own the end-to-end safety case framework for ADAS and autonomous driving systems
  • Act as a subject matter expert in design reviews, program milestones, and release gates
  • Contribute to the development of a scalable Safety Management System (SMS)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
  • 12–15 years of experience in functional safety, system safety, or safety assurance in automotive or robotics
  • Proven experience completing at least one full safety lifecycle from concept through production launch
  • Expertise in developing and maintaining structured safety cases
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), and UL 4600 standards
  • Hands-on experience with HARA, FMEA, FTA, and STPA
  • Experience with AI/ML
  • Strong systems-thinking mindset and leadership through influence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or advanced degree in a related engineering or computer science discipline
  • Experience with advanced ADAS and autonomous systems (camera, radar, LiDAR, etc.)
  • Contribution to UL 4600-aligned safety cases
  • Familiarity with ISO 8800 and emerging safety standards
  • Knowledge of AI/ML safety, data pipeline validation, and ODD frameworks
  • Experience in fast-paced or startup environments
  • Exposure to external regulatory reviews and audits
