Lead Engineer - Distribution Planning

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers toward successful project completion and technical growth
• Perform comprehensive distribution area studies, including voltage, thermal, N-1, and power factor assessments
• Identify distribution system deficiencies using established utility engineering practices and criteria
• Recommend and develop designs for Distribution Automation and Resiliency devices
• Interpret and apply reliability criteria and standards such as IEEE 1547, 519, 1366, and ANSI Voltage Standards
• Utilize power system analytical software and GIS tools to process and represent complex data
• Collaborate with internal teams and industry peers on regional and divisional activities
• Assist with storm restoration efforts as required

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; advanced degrees or PE license preferred
• 7+ years of industry-related experience in power systems or distribution engineering
• Advanced knowledge of power system studies, including power flow, DER, and contingency analysis
• Proficiency in power system analytics software such as CYME, PSSE, or ASPEN
• Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulatory and compliance environments (NERC, NPCC, ISO, PUC)
• Ability to provide technical leadership and mentor team members in a complex project environment
