Lead Engineer Database

Responsibilities

• Shape the architecture and future of Managed Database Services (e.g., PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Redis) within a Kubernetes-based environment.
• Design robust, scalable, and highly available database solutions.
• Drive the automation of deployment, backup, and patching processes to achieve a "self-service" DBaaS model.
• Implement SRE practices to ensure stability, reliability, and data integrity.
• Analyze database workloads and optimize queries and configurations for performance and capacity planning.
• Take end-to-end responsibility for services, from initial code to release management and incident analysis.
• Provide technical mentoring to the team to drive excellence in software development and operations.

Requirements

• Profound knowledge of relational (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases, including high availability and replication.
• Proficiency in software development using Golang or Python.
• Experience building and working with REST and gRPC APIs.
• Strong familiarity with Kubernetes and experience with Kubernetes Operators for orchestration.
• Mastery of Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with monitoring and observability ecosystems, specifically Prometheus and Grafana.
• Fluency in both German and English.
