Lead Engineer - Civil

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of high, medium, and low voltage transmission and distribution substations.
• Manage capital project engineering performance through all phases, including scoping, budgeting, conceptual design, and construction closeout.
• Develop drawings, specifications, and construction work orders to support the commissioning of electrical equipment.
• Perform field circuit reviews and identify proposed improvements to existing infrastructure.
• Oversee the work of external detailed designers and direct contractors on company policy and standards.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to department engineers on complex projects.
• Ensure all engineering designs comply with company, local, state, and national codes and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil or electrical engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in project delivery or a related engineering field.
• Relevant network construction and operational experience, including field inspections.
• Proven ability to interpret and document complex engineering documentation.
• Experience reviewing and approving engineering work to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory standards and requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineering (PE) License.
• Expertise in CAD drafting and industry-standard software such as Staad Pro, LPILE, or PLS-TOWER.
• Specialized experience in foundation design, physical substation design, or overhead transmission line layout.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for unique technical challenges.
• Experience working within a utility environment and knowledge of engineering standards up to 345kV.
