Lead Design Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Responsible for full system engineering execution for the Harvester gasoline Range Extender system
• Conduct regular project reviews and provide technical guidance to the powertrain engineering team
• Ensure peer DREs and validation engineers release work products on-time
• Assist DREs in generating detailed system and sub-system technical specifications
• Identify and escalate technical and timing risks to leadership
• Track and report system imperatives including cost, mass, and investment
• Lead critical action plans and recovery efforts across cross-functional teams
• Drive innovation in technology solutions, design methods, and advanced materials

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
• Strong powertrain technical fundamentals (passenger vehicles, trucks, and SUVs)
• 12+ years of experience managing complex multi-disciplinary engineering projects
• Experience bringing programs from concept to production
• Proficiency with project management tools such as Gantt charts
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with design release processes of Powertrain components
• Experience with internal combustion engine controls and calibration
• Understanding of root cause analysis tools (Fishbone, 5 Whys, Red X, etc.)
• Knowledge of mechanical design principles, CAE methods, GD&T, 3D CAD, and 1D simulation
• Experience with Teamcenter and manufacturing processes
