Lead Design Engineer - Mechanical Product Design

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical product design process from initial concept and design through validation to production launch
• Apply strong mechanical design fundamentals for plastics, sheet metal, castings, and complex assemblies
• Utilize 3D CAD modeling to create engineering drawings and detailed product designs
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and apply GD&T principles to ensure manufacturing precision
• Implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to optimize production
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes based on performance, cost, and reliability
• Conduct engineering validation, testing, failure analysis, and utilize problem-solving methodologies
• Manage quality through DFMEA, risk assessment, and change management processes
• Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers
• Provide project leadership, including technical decision-making and mentoring team members

Requirements

• Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical product design
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and concept development using CATIA tools
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and stack-up analysis calculations
• Experience with plastics, sheet metal, and castings
• Knowledge of motor child parts manufacturing processes
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for interacting with global customers
