Lead Data Steward

Responsibilities

• Act as a delegate of the Data Owner to safeguard, manage, and optimize critical data assets.
• Provide strategic direction and expert guidance to Data Product Managers and Data Stewards.
• Review, validate, and approve data governance artifacts including business rules, definitions, and metadata standards.
• Lead and mentor the Data Stewardship team to ensure consistent adoption of governance practices.
• Drive data quality improvements and master data integrity by partnering with cross-functional teams.
• Report progress, key metrics, and risk implications to the Data Governance Council.
• Evaluate the cost, benefits, and business value of various governance initiatives.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, or related functions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Strong experience in Business Capability frameworks and end-to-end business processes.
• Hands-on experience with Data Governance practices, including metadata and stewardship.
• Working knowledge of Collibra or similar data governance platforms.
• Proven track record in leadership roles such as Lead Data Steward or Data Governance Lead.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP – DAMA).
• Collibra Ranger, Steward, or Data Governance certifications.
• SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) certification.
• Experience leading cross-functional workgroups and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
