Lead Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead complex and high-impact data architecture initiatives across diverse client domains and platforms
• Define data architecture strategies connecting business goals, semantic logic, and platform realities
• Serve as a senior advisor to stakeholders on architecture maturity, governance, and long-term maintainability
• Establish best practices for conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling and business entity design
• Guide the design of scalable semantic structures, taxonomies, and reference architectures
• Translate ambiguous executive requirements into clear architectural frameworks and strategic recommendations
• Lead architecture reviews to identify risks, resolve ambiguity, and strengthen standards alignment
• Assess how architecture choices support AI workflows, machine learning, and agentic systems
• Mentor senior practitioners and contribute to organizational thought leadership and practice development

Requirements

• Deep expertise in data architecture and enterprise data platform concepts
• Proven experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling
• Ability to shape architecture in complex, ambiguous, and high-visibility business environments
• Advanced stakeholder advisory skills with the ability to influence senior executive audiences
• Strong command of business entities, dimensions, metrics, lineage, and metadata
• Strong understanding of semantic layers and domain-oriented architecture thinking
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Experience collaborating effectively across distributed, multi-disciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with taxonomy, ontology, and knowledge-modeling approaches
• Exposure to governance solutions such as Unity Catalog or Collibra
• Working knowledge of SQL, dbt, Python, Spark, or modern data engineering practices
• Databricks, Azure, or Google Cloud certifications
• Experience defining AI-ready or agentic-ready enterprise architectures
