Lead Data Engineer

About the Company

Nuna is building an AI health coach designed to help the 130 million Americans managing chronic conditions. We use motivational interviewing to help patients design experiments that fit their real lives and navigate a complex healthcare system.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and evolution of the data platform, weighing trade-offs across timelines, cost, and resources
• Build and optimize transformations, pipelines, and datasets that power analytics and data science
• Design and maintain integrations with external services
• Define and enforce standards for code development, review, and deployment
• Establish security, governance, and operational best practices
• Provide build-vs-buy assessments and partner with engineering, design, and product teams

Requirements

• 5–10 years of industry experience, including technical leadership of a data platform
• Deep expertise building and maintaining data platforms for analytics and data science
• Proven track record designing robust ETL ingestion pipelines from external sources
• Strong command of Python, PySpark, and SQL
• Ability to translate fuzzy business needs into clear requirements
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building a data platform from zero to one
• Experience working with healthcare data
• Degree in a quantitative field such as data science, economics, statistics, or engineering
• Experience with SDLC and MLOps
