Lead Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver robust, production-grade data-intensive applications and services
• Translate high-level business requirements into scalable and robust systems
• Drive architectural decisions and technology stack selection
• Build and maintain high-quality data products and pipelines on Spark and Databricks
• Design event-driven architectures using Kafka for real-time data processing
• Build backend services and APIs to expose data capabilities
• Optimize data models for analytical workloads
• Coach and mentor junior engineers through code reviews and design sessions
• Improve engineering standards across testing, observability, CI/CD, and reliability

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong programming background in Scala or Java
• Proven experience building distributed data pipelines with Spark and Databricks
• Hands-on experience with Kafka in production systems
• Solid experience designing and developing REST or event-driven APIs
• Strong knowledge of relational databases like PostgreSQL and data modeling
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field

Preferred Qualifications

• Practical experience with Flink and advanced stream processing
• Experience with cloud-native data platforms and infrastructure-as-code
• Experience deploying applications on Kubernetes
• Familiarity with modern lakehouse ecosystems and table formats
• Experience with performance profiling and JVM tuning
