Lead Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Build and run reliable, automated data pipelines from various systems like HubSpot, QuickBooks, and Jira
• Maintain a single, trusted customer and business record as the company's source of truth
• Monitor and fix data quality issues proactively
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver clean, structured, and near real-time data
• Manage change management to ensure system updates do not break the data warehouse
• Enable self-serve data access for teams and AI tools through documentation and structure
• Manage and grow a team of 2 data engineers and support a data analyst

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in data engineering
• Proven track record of owning a production data warehouse or platform end to end
• Strong SQL skills
• Hands-on experience with modern ETL/ELT tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Fivetran)
• Experience with layered warehouse architecture (medallion architecture)
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and Azure cloud services
• Experience integrating data from in-house systems and third-party platforms
• Experience exposing data via APIs
• People management experience or strong readiness to lead a team
• Strong communication skills for partnering with non-technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-growing or scaling company building data platforms from scratch
• Proficiency in Python for data tooling and automation
• Experience setting data governance standards or leading data quality initiatives
• Understanding of data requirements for ML/AI pipelines
