Lead Cook

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of line cooks, prep cooks, and students in a high-volume university kitchen
• Prepare scratch menu items including soups, salads, pasta, pizza, desserts, and sauces
• Supervise student and temporary workers with an emphasis on safety, sanitation, and customer service
• Monitor and adjust commercial kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, and steam kettles
• Ensure proper food storage, rotation, and labeling of all products
• Maintain high standards of quality and comply with all Health Department safety standards
• Perform food preparation tasks including washing, peeling, cutting, and butchering meats and seafood

Requirements

• 1 year of professional kitchen experience (culinary training may substitute for some experience)
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid WA State Food Handler’s Permit (or ability to obtain one before employment)
• High standard of personal hygiene
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of computer applications
• Valid driver’s license held for at least 2 years
