Lead Compounding Pharmacist, Sterile

Responsibilities

• Oversee sterile compounding operations within a modular cleanroom suite to ensure safe and effective preparations.
• Act as the Designated Person for USP 797 and USP 800 compliance.
• Maintain and enforce strict aseptic techniques and cleanroom standards.
• Provide training and supervision to compounding and support personnel.
• Perform and document compounding procedures, quality assurance checks, and environmental monitoring.
• Manage sterile compounding pharmacists, technicians, and support staff.
• Collaborate with R&D teams on the development and scale-up of new compounded sterile preparations.
• Ensure all activities comply with state and federal pharmacy laws, including HIPAA and FDA regulations.

Requirements

• 3 years of pharmacist experience.
• 1+ years of experience in sterile compounding.
• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
• Active Pharmacist License in Ohio (OH) or Arizona (AZ).
• Proficiency in USP 797 and USP 800 requirements and best practices.
• Proven leadership experience.
• Ability to work night shifts (6:00pm-6:30am) on a rotating schedule.
• Ability to undergo respirator fit testing and wear required PPE for extended periods.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience compounding from non-sterile starting components.
• Familiarity with electronic documentation systems and compounding workflow software.
• Experience with regulatory inspections (e.g., State Board, FDA, NABP).
• 1+ years in a managerial role overseeing pharmacists and technicians.
