Lead Commercialization Engineer

Responsibilities

• Independently manage multiple high-impact footwear development projects from confirmation to production
• Spearhead the end-to-end commercialization process using expert knowledge of manufacturing, fit, and material properties
• Perform root-cause analysis to troubleshoot issues related to tooling, molding, assembly, fit, and wear
• Act as a liaison between inline development and production teams, working with strategic vendors to ensure product intent
• Engineer products for efficient manufacturability, lowest cost, and highest quality
• Collaborate with computational designers on pattern and tooling adjustments to enhance fit and durability
• Manage full size run grading, technical manufacturing manuals, and initial production trials
• Document complex tooling and upper-related issues and communicate correction actions to stakeholders

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive experience in the footwear industry with a focus on innovation
• Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Engineering, Material Science, or a relevant technical field
• Expert-level knowledge of advanced footwear manufacturing (robotics, automation, tooling, molding, injecting, welding, lasting)
• Proven ability to assess commercial viability and factory readiness of new technologies
• Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
• Ability to work autonomously and navigate ambiguity
• Ability to travel up to 15-20% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

• 2D and 3D computational design and algorithmic capabilities
• Experience mentoring junior team members or supervising project activities
