Lead Carpenter

Responsibilities

• Serve as a lead carpenter, taking a leadership role on campus projects and assignments.
• Construct, install, and repair partitions, cabinets, shelves, windows, screens, and ironwork.
• Remodel basic frame structures and install suspended ceilings, doors, locks, and various fixtures.
• Repair floors, plaster, drywall, ceilings, and furniture, including painting and touch-ups as needed.
• Coordinate work orders and oversee work being performed by outside contractors.
• Assist with the training and supervision of student workers.
• Act as a liaison between the facilities team, contractors, and vendors.
• Provide high-level customer service to students, faculty, and staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to meet university driving requirements.
• Ability to operate powered hand tools and common maintenance tools.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and climb step or extension ladders.
• Basic computer skills, including the ability to use email and online work order systems.
• Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions.
• Availability for occasional after-hours, weekend, and on-call duties.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5-7 years of previous carpentry experience.
• General knowledge of the construction of garages and various building types.
