Lead Battery Project Manager

Responsibilities

• Define technical specifications for BESS including sizing, topology, safety, and grid integration
• Challenge supplier proposals to optimize performance and total cost of ownership
• Build and maintain reference designs for replication across markets
• Own the technical side of battery rollouts from site assessment to commissioning
• Act as the technical interface with DSOs, EPC partners, and local installers
• Monitor live battery assets and define key performance indicators
• Develop O&M playbooks for preventive maintenance and troubleshooting
• Identify economic opportunities in energy markets like arbitrage and ancillary services
• Shape medium-term battery strategy and represent the company with regulators and suppliers

Requirements

• 5–8 years of hands-on experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS)
• Strong electrical engineering background (MV/LV, power electronics, protections, grounding, EMC)
• Working knowledge of grid interconnection and dialogue with DSOs/TSOs in Europe
• Fluent English; French or Portuguese is a plus
• Experience with energy markets (arbitrage, ancillary services, flexibility)
• Ability to work cross-functionally and internationally

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with EV charging infrastructure
• Experience with battery sizing tools, SCADA/EMS platforms, or OCPP
• Knowledge of second-life batteries or flexibility aggregators
