Lead Backend Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the architecture, design, development, deployment, and operations of the backend API stack
• Design and implement large-scale data processing pipelines for images, video, text, audio, and neural networks
• Implement tools, tests, metrics, and dashboards to accelerate model training development cycles
• Work closely with frontend engineers to integrate backend systems
• Influence architectural decisions regarding security, scalability, reliability, and performance
• Maintain monitoring, metrics, and reporting systems for observability and alerting
• Collaborate in design and code reviews and contribute to organizational documentation

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Physics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Strong proficiency in Python
• Solid experience building RESTful Python applications
• Knowledge of Python frameworks such as Flask, Django, or Tornado (Django preferred)
• Experience with SQL and non-relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, Redis)
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration like Kubernetes
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with end-to-end development including unit, integration, and functional testing
• Understanding of logging, monitoring, and alerting systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, SQS)
• Experience with big data systems like Spark or Hadoop
• Familiarity with scientific computing libraries (numpy, pandas, scikit-learn)
• Experience with ElasticSearch or other scalable search systems
• Experience with real-time data processing
