Lead Avionics Technician

Responsibilities

• Oversee servicing, repairing, and overall maintenance of aircraft avionics to ensure flight safety
• Supervise production personnel and coordinate activities to minimize delays and increase efficiency
• Plan, bid, and delegate job duties for scheduled and drop-in maintenance
• Research electrical/avionic service bulletins, ADs, and STCs regarding tooling and material needs
• Provide training and technical assistance to subordinates
• Perform routine and special maintenance inspections on navigation, communication, and flight control systems
• Fabricate wiring harnesses and install/modify avionic and electrical systems
• Troubleshoot, repair, and modify defective assemblies using hand tools, soldering irons, and test equipment
• Interpret avionic/electrical wiring diagrams and flight test data
• Complete work package documentation and ensure compliance with FAA regulations

Requirements

• High School diploma in electro-electronics or GED
• At least 8 years of experience in avionics or a related area of responsibility
• Proper certification in accordance with FAR Part 65
• Advanced knowledge of aircraft electrical/electronic components and systems
• Strong electronic/avionic troubleshooting skills
• Ability to interpret aircraft technical documentation and the metric system
• Ability to wear a respirator per OSHA regulations
• Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts as required

Preferred Qualifications

• A&P license
• FCC General Operator's License
