About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, analysis, integration, and testing of avionics and electrical systems
- Maintain configuration control over major avionics system elements including wiring diagrams and 3D CAD
- Coordinate with engineers across multiple disciplines to develop technical solutions and requirements
- Lead the development of requirements, test plans, and procedures in coordination with other subsystem leads
- Perform analysis to ensure system design adequacy and performance meets program requirements
- Support ground and flight testing, range integration, and payload integration
- Manage direct reports through regular 1:1s and performance reviews
- Evaluate technical risks and implement appropriate mitigation plans
Requirements
- Experience in electrical engineering, avionics, or launch vehicle integration
- Proven experience managing the manufacturing of an aerospace vehicle
- Expertise in avionics wiring and hardware integration into aerospace vehicles
- Experience with telemetry systems and IRIG-106 (CH4, CH10, CH7)
- Proficiency with data acquisition and instrumentation (thermocouples, accelerometers, etc.)
- Experience with electrical power systems and design analysis (power, thermal, or RF budgets)
- Proficiency in C/C++, Python, Matlab, or equivalent programming languages
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoW security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of environmental testing including vibration, thermal, and shock
- Experience testing RF avionics components such as transmitters, cabling, and antennas
- Experience with MIL-STD-461 testing (CS, RS, and RE)
- Knowledge of flight termination systems
- Experience with data acquisition systems such as National Instruments, ACRA, TTC, or Safran
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like JIRA, JAMA, or Confluence
