About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and organize technician teams to conduct assembly activities for the SPARC Tokamak
  • Manage day-to-day work orders, including mechanical, welding, electrical, and lifting tasks
  • Coordinate the handling, alignment, and mechanical integration of large electromagnetic coils, vacuum vessels, and instrumentation systems
  • Lead daily kick-off meetings and shift-change reports to communicate schedules, safety hazards, and major events
  • Perform visual inspections of completed tasks and troubleshoot assembly issues as they arise
  • Collaborate with engineers, metrology, and quality groups to ensure precise component completion
  • Participate in major on-site operations, such as critical component lifts and movements

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience in a highly technical assembly role (e.g., aerospace, semiconductor, oil & gas, or power plants)
  • 2-3 years of experience overseeing a team of five or more people
  • Experience completing large-scale projects from end to end
  • Knowledge of standard joining and integration methods, such as bolted interfaces, welding, and epoxies
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in environments that may include confined spaces or platforms up to 25 feet high
  • Strong dedication to safety in industrial environments involving heat, noise, high voltage, and cryogenics

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of technical assembly experience and 3+ years of leadership experience
  • Experience with rigging, heavy component lifting, and forklift operation
  • Knowledge of vacuum systems, clean room best practices, or cryogenic systems
  • Proficiency with metrology tools and precision alignment
  • Experience using JIRA, Manufacturo, or other software-based tracking tools
  • Ability to use basic machining tools like a lathe or mill
