Lead Area Health Information Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process medical record requests (ROI) in a timely and efficient manner
• Safeguard patient privacy and ensure HIPAA compliance
• Manage patient health records and prepare new patient charts
• Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
• Respond to internal and external requests for patient records
• Perform administrative duties including data entry, faxing, and handling mail
• Act in a lead role by training, mentoring, and onboarding new staff
• Assist with Quality Assurance tasks and generate reports for management
• Travel to multiple clinics in the area (75% or more of the time)

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of Health Information Management (HIM) experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
• Ability to travel locally/regionally 75% or more of the time
• Strong data entry and clerical skills
• Professional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of Health Information related experience
• Previous production or metric-based work experience
• In-person customer service experience
• Ability to build relationships with on-site clients
