About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide support for SQL Server database environments and applications, including design, maintenance, and enhancement
- Proactively monitor database and application systems to ensure uninterrupted service to the Energy Control Center
- Perform SQL Server installations, configurations, and migrations (specifically to SQL Server 2019 and above)
- Execute query optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting for MS-SQL environments
- Manage high availability methods including clustering, mirroring, and Always ON Availability Groups
- Implement and manage Disaster Recovery (DR) tasks, design, and implementation
- Maintain stored procedures, indexes, SQL jobs, SSIS, and security patches
- Support Cyber Security requirements and manage database security, privilege assignment, and role-based security
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployments, including after-hours work during maintenance windows
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2+ years of RDBMS experience, OR
- Associate Degree with 4+ years of RDBMS experience, OR
- 5-7 years of combined IT and RDBMS experience
- Strong proficiency in SQL Server administration and performance tuning
- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery design
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and support 24x7 systems during emergencies or storm conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SolarWinds DPA
- Experience with Datacenter Migrations
- Prior experience working within the Gas or Electric Utility industry
