Lawyer, Practice Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead an immigration practice area by managing a team of 3–5 case managers
• Set performance targets, run daily standups, and coach team members
• Own practice metrics including client response time, pipeline velocity, and satisfaction
• Provide legal oversight and quality control for files prior to government submission
• Handle complex legal matters, including procedural fairness letters and strategic research
• Partner with product and engineering teams to identify bottlenecks and suggest automations
• Utilize AI-powered tools to optimize research, preparation, and pipeline management
• Develop onboarding playbooks and training processes to scale the team

Requirements

• Licensed lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario or the Barreau du Québec
• Proven experience in management, mentoring, or supervising a team
• Strong systems thinking skills with an ability to design scalable workflows
• High proficiency with AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) and an interest in legal tech
• Ability to work in a hybrid capacity from Toronto or Montreal
• Strong communication skills for client interaction and professional documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in Canadian immigration law
