About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide quick, decisive advice on media law risks, including defamation and contempt, prior to publication
- Advise on high-profile current affairs content, investigations, flagship entertainment programs, and daily breaking news
- Develop and deliver media law training to content makers
- Conduct media law litigation, draft content agreements, and advise on intellectual property matters (subject to experience)
- Manage own practice and workflows within a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Provide pre-publication advice on a rostered basis after ordinary business hours
Requirements
- Admitted solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW or equivalent
- 2-3 years post-admission experience in media law
- Ability to provide pragmatic, timely, and decisive legal advice
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Capacity to exercise sound judgment on complex issues with or without supervision
