About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide legal research and writing support to Administrative Law Judges
- Review submissions, exhibits, and legal arguments across tribunal matters
- Draft legal memoranda, reports, recommendations, and memorandum decisions
- Proofread and cite check draft decisions and publications
- Conduct pre-trial settlement conferences when designated
- Maintain an organized docket and meet assignment deadlines
- Communicate with attorneys, agency representatives, and pro se respondents
- Support newsletters, case summaries, and legal research databases
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited U.S. law school
- Admission to the New York State Bar or eligibility under court rules
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Familiarity with statutory, regulatory, and case law analysis
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
